the make up the break up is the first release on bruno pronsatos own thesongsays label. its the longest track in his catalog (38 minutes), and an even deeper excursion into his stylized harmony. this track was originally a track uncompleted while making, æwhy cant we be like us. revisiting it roughly a year ago, bruno began to reword it. what began as simple attempt to create an ep track out of it became a monster. what monster you ask? in a few words, the monster that is brunos love of musicality and sound design. muscially speaking, we are on a ride somewhere between a slithery house track and a drugged out night out in chelsea, new york in the 60s - and thats a good thing because we get the entirety of the ride: the ups, the downs, the clouded mentality, the broken heart and perhaps the mended one. its happy, its sad - its something that you can dance to, but most importantly, its music that we think you can revisit for many years, as it somehow reflects us, our lives. a playful and extended journey through love and disaster, or at least the soundtrack to it.

this special release is dedicated to detroit dj legend ken collier. his untimely passing touched me personally as he was one of a small few who supported my music and me. because of ken collier, detroit developed a dance scene, which inspired artists & producers to make dance records, which gave birth to techno, which has provided careers for so many of you in the business today. so i dare ask all you techno producers, djs, record labels, record shops, clubs which play techno music and fans of techno to pay respect to ken collier just as you would our other fine music innovators. however, this special compilation isn t about techno, it s about h.o.u.s.e sound - broadcasting it to you from live inside the st-er-eo. this record contains no artist or track listing because i don t want this to be about who made the tracks, track titles, or even who wrote this commentary. this is my personal tribute to him, and how he has motivat ed me to make my contributions to house music. thank you ken collier, for helping me grow, not just as a dj or a record producer, but also as a person. every dj and dance artist here in detroit owes thanks to you for going out into the musical forest, chopping down trees and paving the way for us to build house.

the latest gigolo release is one for the summer! aptly titled hot it comes courtesy of ivano coppola and christian prommer, the former being one of italia s most respected dj s and the latter being, amongst other things, one of the main collaborators for hells critically acclaimed album teufelswerk. taking a sample from willie ninjas classic record hot and building a track around the chords and the vocal leads us to our starting point ivano coppola plastic mix!
ivano coppola has been the resident dj at milan s plastic club since 1992, so it is fair to say that he knows what works on a dance floor, or, to use a popular phrase, what is hot and what is not. it is with this historical knowledge that we find the genesis of our track. i found it necessary to go back in the past, to start producing once again in a 90 style - using samples. the next step was to come back into the future and reach out to christian prommer, highly respected by many including ivan i consider (christian prommer) one of the best producers of the moment! he loved the idea, the remix was huge, and so we decided to co-produce the record. simple!!!
but, for christian this was more then a remix, hence the co-production credit! i liked the idea of translating an early 90 s house-music-sample in to a sample-style-percussive-techno-tune. lots of live played drums and percussion in this one, of course. i only later learned that the sample we used is from one of my house music heroes, maws louie vega. naturally the record found its way into the hands of gigolo in the best way possible, and in the tradition of such a great record label – i played it at the gigolo night in munich and hell came to me dancing and took the tune into his heart.

we are very excited to present the first release on brand new label doppler records and it comes courtesy of jacksonville, an artist who continues to delight & surprise in equal measure & who delivers quality tracks every time. the trix ep is an eclectic 3 tracker which showcases jacksonvilleÆs versatility. it ranges from analogue synth-driven deep tech to smile inducing disco-fueled deep house & cheeky, bass-heavy tech house. doppler records is a new underground label releasing the very best in house music. their aim is to bring our sound to the dance floor without sacrificing groove, melody, warmth or originality. jacksonville co-founded uk labels advance & sensei, producing & remixing tracks for both labels & appearing on many compilations, most notably sashaÆs global underground ibiza mix. after leaving the labels he took a bit of a break, then returned as mecanique, putting out tracks on plastic city, toolroom trax, district of corruption (berlin) & slave recordings. jacksonville is the latest project.

te amo is a forgotten gem originally released on the volumex label back in 1993 and then licensed to the legendary vc records in the u.k. with mixes from john digweed. this was a huge anthem back in the early 90s full of balearic passion and happiness which is often missing in todayÆs music. but lets not get carried away in the memories of the past and check out these brand new mixes. in fact, the record makes a fine return to todays scene thanks to brilliant interpretations from two of our favourite djs/producers out there: hotly tipped paolo mojo and tapesh.to round off one pretty nifty package, the original caliente mix is enclosed also. and this still sounds as relevant today as it did almost two decades ago. a blast from the past indeed! very similar to releases on record labels like cr2, defected and toolroom.

the second release on the cologne-based techno label 200 comes from our friend jean-vince luccini, who has released on well-renowned labels such as treibstoff, dumb unit, trapez, curle, roman photo and sinergy.
